2020 Census

April 1, 2020 is Census Day and observed nationwide. The U.S. Constitution mandates that a census of the population be conducted once every 10 years. Census data is used to determine the number of seats each state holds in Congress and how more than $675 billion in federal funds are distributed back to states and local communities every year for services and infrastructure, including health care, jobs, schools, roads and businesses.

Beginning in mid-March, most households will receive an invitation in the mail to respond online to the 2020 Census questionnaire (you can also respond by phone or mail). Responding to the questionnaire is safe. Your personal information is kept confidential by law. Your responses can only be used to produce statistics. They cannot be used for law enforcement purposes or to determine your personal eligibility for government benefits.
