APRIL 2024:
Melvin Companies is the Contractor awarded the construction contract.
JUNE 2024:
Contractor plans to begin installing traffic control and erosion control devices along the project corridor.
The construction zone remains open only to local traffic going to and from their homes or businesses along E. Jelinek Avenue and Von Kanel Street. Through traffic is advised to follow speed limits and take either Barbican Avenue or Schofield Avenue to travel between Mesker Street and Camp Phillips Road (CTH X). This is for the safety of all our residents and the Contractor's crews helping our community complete this important project.

JUNE 17, 2024
The Contractor has begun work and will begin replacing the water main through the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community between E. Jelinek Avenue, near Kirk Street, and Schofield Avenue.
The available space is limited with the large equipment required to complete the project. The Contractor's crew will do their best to accommodate vehicles trying to get in and out of the mobile home community so please be mindful when travelling in the vicinity of the Stillwater Landing entrance. Daily water shutoffs will be required along the project limits as the crews install the new water main and transfer service from the old to the new water main.

JULY 1, 2024
The Contractor plans to complete half of the water main replacement within the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community and temporarily relocate to E. Jelinek Avenue to begin the sanitary sewer extension on Tower Ridge Place, between E. Jelinek Avenue and Ridge Point Circle. The Contractor does not plan to work on July 4th or July 5th.
Residents should be notified by the Contractor if they will need to temporarily park outside the project limits so that the work can be completed. These are temporary parking accommodations and should not extend more than a couple days. Residents should also be prepared to take a different route to/from their homes as work continues along E. Jelinek Avenue and the intersecting side streets.

The Contractor plans to finish work on the last half of the water main replacement within the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community and move to the sanitary sewer replacement along E. Jelinek Avenue between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street.

Resume water main work within the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Park and begin water main replacement on E. Jelinek Avenue between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street.
AUGUST 5, 2024
Continue construction of water main on E. Jelinek Avenue between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street. Contractor plans to finish remaining water main work within the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Park by the end of the week.

Continue construction of water main between Kirk Street and Tower Ridge Place. Perform final testing of new water main between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street and through the Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community.
AUGUST 19, 2024
Grading and base aggregate to be placed in Stillwater Landing Mobile Home Community in the areas of the water main replacement by the Contractor (Melvin Companies). The Mobile Home Community has they own project that will be continue into Fall 2024 and that work is being completed by the Contractor, PGA, and all work associated with that project is through the owner of the Mobile Home Community.
Additional construction crews will be on site to begin grading and storm sewer work along the north segment of Von Kanel Street, between E. Jelinek Avenue and Schofield Avenue, and the east segment of E. Jelinek Avenue, between Von Kanel Street and Mesker Street. Grading work is planned to begin on Von Kanel Street, north of E. Jelinek Avenue, and work west along E. Jelinek Avenue.
Local road closures will be required to complete the work. Village of Weston residents should anticipate travel delays and plan to utilize alternative routes to and from their homes or around the project site. The Contractor plans to finish construction of water main up to Tower Ridge Place and installation of a new fire hydrant near the corner of E. Jelinek Avenue and Mesker Street.
AUGUST 26, 2024
Water main work is completed and grading along the northern half of Von Kanel Street and on E. Jelinek Avenue between Mesker Street and Von Kanel Street has begun and will continue into the coming weeks. Storm sewer will begin to be constructed and service connections to the newly installed utilities will begin.
SEPTEMBER 2, 2024
Roadway building along Von Kanel Street, between Schofield Avenue and along E. Jelinek Avenue, between Von Kanel Street and Mesker Street, will continue until the new gravel surface is near its final grade. The Contractor will be contacting residents located along E. Jelinek Avenue, between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street, to notify them that they will be completing water and sewer service connections to the newly constructed water and sanitary sewer over the next couple weeks. Construction of new storm sewer will also continue as the Contractor works on building up the road surface on both E. Jelinek Avenue and Von Kanel Street over the next few weeks.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2024
Water main work on E. Jelinek Avenue was completed this past week and the Contractor will now be working on service connections between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street with then storm sewer installation to follow after that. The Contractor has indicated that they may be bringing in a second crew to finish up E. Jelinek Avenue from Von Kanel Street to Mesker Street and Von Kanel Street north of E. Jelinek Avenue over the next two weeks.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2024
The Contractor finished water and sewer service connections between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street this past week. A new subcontractor, Mc Cabe Construction, out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, will be moving equipment onto the site this week and starting storm sewer installation along E. Jelinek Avenue and Von Kanel Street. Mc Cabe Construction will also be assisting with construction of a sanitary force main access structure on the south side of E. Jelinek Avenue near the intersection of E. Jelinek Avenue and Mesker Street. As the storm sewer installation progresses, the Contractor (Melvin Companies) will begin grading the earth and bringing in sand and base for the street and multi-use path. The Contractor is coordinating a time, hopefully soon, to have their concrete subcontractor begin placement of the concrete shoulder on E. Jelinek Avenue (Von Kanel Street to Mesker Street) and Von Kanel Street (E. Jelinek Avenue to Scofield Avenue).
SEPTEMBER 23, 2024
The subcontractor (Mc Cabe Construction) continues to work on installation of the storm sewer and has been making progress along E. Jelinek Avenue. They will continue to work on storm sewer installation between Tower Ridge Road and Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) this week. The Contractor (Melvin Companies) will begin grading the earth and bringing in additional base aggregate for the street between Von Kanel Street and Mesker Street to prepare the road for new concrete shoulder.
SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
The Contractor (Melvin Companies) will begin grading the earth and bringing in sand and base for the street and multi-use path once storm sewer has been fully installed between Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and Kirk Street and will work east from Camp Phillips Road (CR-X). Two (2) subcontractors are now on site to complete various work on the project. The first subcontractor (Mc Cabe Construction) continues to work on installation of the storm sewer from Rodney Street west to Randy Jay Street and will then continue from the low point between Kirk Street and Rodney Street east along E. Jelinek Avenue. The second subcontractor (A-1 Excavation) will mobilize on site and begin replacement of the sanitary manhole in the intersection of E. Jelinek Avenue and Von Kanel Street which will be closed to traffic for the entire week.
OCTOBER 7, 2024
The Contractor (Melvin Companies) will finish rough grading the of E. Jelinek Avenue east of Von Kanel Street and Von Kanel Street north of E. Jelinek Ave for concrete shoulder. The concrete will need at least 7 days of curing time before any weight can be put on it. If you have the ability to access your property through an alternative location or park on a side street for that period of time, we would sincerely appreciate it. After 7 days of curing, the concrete will be ready for weight. Construction of the storm sewer is progressing east along E. Jelinek Avenue between Randy Jay Street and Kirk Street.
OCTOBER 14, 2024
The Contractor (Melvin Companies) is rough grading the roadway and multi-use path along E. Jelinek Avenue in the areas outside construction of the storm sewer. Grading will also take place between the new concrete shoulder placed last week to prepare the roadway and multi-use path (MUP) for new asphalt pavement. Disturbed areas outside the concrete shoulder will be restored with topsoil, seed, fertilizer, and mulch.
OCTOBER 21, 2024
Mc Cabe Construction finished construction of the new storm sewer between Randy Jay Street and Kirk Street and relocated to Von Kanel Street, south of E. Jelinek Avenue, to finish the construction of the new storm sewer along that street segment. The Contractor (Melvin Companies) is rough grading the roadway and multi-use path along E. Jelinek Avenue towards Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) and should be done grading this section by the end of the week. The street segment of Von Kanel Street, north of E. Jelinek Avenue, and E. Jelinek, east of Von Kanel Street, is scheduled to be fine graded and paved as work proceeds on the other two street segments. All paving is planned to be completed yet this year.
OCTOBER 28, 2024
Roadway and path building on E. Jelinek Avenue between Von Kanel Street and Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) is nearly complete with some minor grading at Camp Phillips Road and the side streets for matching into existing infrastructure and along the multi-use path. Once complete, the grading crew will mobilize to Von Kanel Street and finish grading the street between Barbican Avenue and E. Jelinek Avenue. Storm sewer installation will be completed early this week and concrete shoulder will be constructed along E. Jelinek between Von Kanel Street and Camp Phillips Road (CR-X). All paving is planned to be completed yet this year.

Final touches on the roadway and path grading along E. Jelinek Avenue between Von Kanel Street and Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) will continue the early half of the week with the first layer of asphalt pavement planned for the later half of the week. Rough grading of the street and multi-use path along Von Kanel Street south of E. Jelinek Avenue will continue this week with concrete shoulder and sidewalk to Barbican Avenue planned for later this week. All paving is planned to be completed yet this year.

The first of two layers of asphalt will be constructed along E. Jelinek Avenue between Von Kanel Street and Camp Phillips Road (CR-X) during the early part of this week and along Von Kanel Street between E. Jelinek Avenue and Barbican Avenue. All paving is planned to be completed yet this year.
