During this time, vehicles should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street on even-numbered calendar days, and on the odd side of the street on odd-numbered calendar days, unless otherwise posted or exempted.
For example, if your address is 5500 (an even number), you may park on your side of the street between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the 2nd,
4th, 6th, etc., of the month, and you should park across the street on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, etc., on the alternate days. (Remember: If parking a car on the street overnight, it’s what the date will be at 4:00 a.m. the following day that determines which side to park on.)
Alternate side parking helps ensure plow trucks can properly plow streets, as vehicles will be on only one side of the road when they come through. In the past, plow trucks had to skip streets due to parked vehicles being on both sides of the road, not leaving enough room for the plow to drive between the parked vehicles.
