[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE WESTON WATER UTILITY - PUBLIC HEARING ON 8/1/18 2PM

VILLAGE OF WESTON
PUBLIC NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS OF THE
WESTON WATER UTILITY

The Weston Water Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) to increase water rates.  The increase is necessary due to a 15.71 percent increase in gross plant investment and a 28.52 percent increase in operating expenses since the last water rate case was completed in 2008.

If the request is granted, the increase in water revenues will be implemented in two steps.  The increase in Step I is estimated to be $377,258 which will result in an increase of 18.48 percent over the water utility’s present revenues.  The increase in Step II is estimated to be an additional $88,698, an increase of 4.35 percent over the Step I revenues, and will be implemented when the AMI water meter replacement project has been completed and placed into service.  The total increase in water revenues requested is $465,956 which will result in an estimated overall rate increase of 22.83 percent over the water utility’s present revenues.

If the request is granted, the water bill for general service and public fire protection service for an average residential customer with a 5/8-inch or 3/4-inch meter who uses 12,000 gallons of water per quarter will increase from $60.59 to $69.39 in Step I, an increase of 14.52 percent, and then from $69.39 to $72.49 in Step II, an increase of 4.47 percent.  The total increase in the average residential customer’s water bill resulting from Step I and Step II is estimated to be $11.90 per quarter, or an increase of 19.64 percent.

A telephonic public hearing on the application has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Village of Weston’s Board Room, 5500 Schofield Avenue, Weston.  Scheduling questions regarding this hearing may be directed to the PSCW at (608) 266-3766.
