VILLAGE OF WESTON

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

CHAPTER 94 ZONING

ARTICLE 7:  FLOODPLAIN OVERLAY ZONING ORDINANCE


PUBLIC NOTICE is given to all persons in the Village of Weston that a public hearing will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018, at approximately, 6:00 p.m., or shortly thereafter, at the Weston Municipal Center, 5500 Schofield Avenue, Weston, WI  54476, to solicit comments on proposed floodplain zoning ordinance and/or map revisions, Chapter 94 Zoning Article 7 Floodplain Overlay Zoning Ordinance,  that are required by state and federal law. These revisions govern development in mapped floodplain areas.  The proposed ordinance/map revisions are on file in the office of the Planning & Development Director/Zoning Administrator.

 

The proposed regulations are intended to protect life, health and property in floodplain areas and will govern uses permitted in mapped floodplains.  Activities such as dredging, filling, excavating and construction of buildings are generally allowed, but may be restricted according to which flood zone the property is in.  A copy of the proposed ordinance will be on file and open for public inspection in the office of the Planning & Development Director/Zoning Administrator for a period of two weeks prior to this public hearing.


The hearing notice with application materials are also available for public inspection on the Village of Weston website located at http://westonwi.gov/421/Public-Hearing-Notices.


All persons interested are invited to attend this hearing and be heard.  Written comments may be submitted to the Village of Weston Plan Commission, Valerie Parker, Plan Commission Secretary, 5500 Schofield Avenue, Weston, WI  54476, or emailed to vparker@westonwi.gov, by noon on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 to be included in the Plan Commission Meeting Packet.  All interested persons attending the Public Hearing will be given an opportunity to be heard.  Any person with questions or planning to attend needing special accommodations to participate should call Valerie Parker, Planning Technician, Planning and Development Department, at 715-241-2607.
