The Village of Weston, with its current population of approximately 15,045, is one of the top recycling communities in the state in total recyclables, banned items, and recycling pounds per capita for a municipality of our size. Currently, the average person in the Village recycles 271.04 pounds of material (not including yard waste) annually, which equates to 1774.23 tons kept out of the landfill!

Advanced Disposal
Sign up for the 2013 Advanced Disposal Yard Waste Subscription Service that will pick up your yard waste for only $12 month.
Fall Yard Waste Pickup
This year's Fall Yard Waste Pickup will begin Monday, October 14, 2013. Have leaves, unbagged thatch, grass, clippings, pine needles and brush less than 6 inches in diameter, placed on the shoulder the day before your normal refuse pickup. If you have curb and gutter, please place yard waste in the gutter. Yard waste should be placed in rows and should not exceed 5 feet in width. All yard waste must be out by Monday, November 4th, to ensure pickup.
Piles are to be placed so as to be clear of power poles, trees, and mailboxes for ease of pickup. Brush is to be kept separate from yard waste and placed at roadside with stump ends of limbs placed in same direction, parallel to road. If yard waste cannot be reached by the village's machines it will then be the responsibility of the resident to dispose of the waste .
After the roadside collection, leaves and all prementioned items can be brought to the village's yard waste site (free of charge) located at 8200 Ryan Street (one-fourth mile south of Weston Avenue on the west side). When bringing items to the waste site, please remove leaves from bags and dispose of the bags in the provided container.

Spring Bulk Item Drop-Off
Bulk item drop-off (for Village/Town of Weston residents only) will be held May 16-May 18, 2013 at Advanced Disposal.
Acceptable Items
Items that will be accepted are non-metal items, furniture, carpeting, scrap lumber, mattresses, and glass windows.
Times of collection
As of January 2010, the Everest Metro Police Department will be collecting pharmaceuticals at the Public Safety Building on Mesker Street. Please call 715-359-4202 for more information.
Electronic Recycling
Wisconsin's electronics recycling law was signed by Governor Doyle in October 2009 as Act 50. The law establishes a statewide program, now called the E-Cycle Wisconsin Program, to collect and recycle certain electronic devices. It is based on a product stewardship approach, which assigns primary responsibility for collection and recycling to the manufacturer. The law also bans certain electronics from Wisconsin landfills and incinerators after September 1, 2010.
All Wisconsin residents are affected by a prohibition on disposing of designated electronics in a landfill or incinerator after September 1, 2010. Beginning January 1, 2010, Wisconsin households, K-12 public schools, and Milwaukee Parental Choice Program schools are eligible to recycle certain electronics under E-Cycle Wisconsin.

Oil Filter & Absorbents Recycling
Starting January 1, 2011, the Marathon County Landfill will be offering a new recycling opportunity for residents. They will be adding oil filters and absorbents to their list of acceptable recyclable items. This new service comes in response to a new state law, 2009 Wisconsin Act 86, that bans used automotive engine oil filters and oil-absorbent materials (i.e., paper toweling, rags, granular kitty litter-type absorbents, etc.) from Wisconsin landfills as of January 1, 2011. No individual or group is exempt. The ban applies to everyone in the state including individuals, farmers, businesses, commercial, or industrial facilities and other organizations. This includes oil filters from snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, and tractors as well as cars and trucks.

Get the Lead Out Program
Marathon County residents beginning in April 2009 can bring their lead fishing tackle in to the County Hazardous Waste Collection Facility during any normal collection weekend and exchange them for blister packs of lead-free tackle. One lead sinker or jig head or a couple of lead shot can kill an adult loon, eagle, or swan from lead poisoning. For more information please check out the:
