Commercial/Multi-Family Building Permits

The Village of Weston requires permits for all new construction, alteration and demolition of all structures prior to the starting of any work. Please take note, all new commercial construction or building additions require prior site plan approval. Please review the following list of permit applications.

​All new commercial construction require site plan approval prior to the issuance of any building permits. All new commercial building plans and remodels that modify over 25,000 cu. ft. require State approval from the Department of Safety and Professional Services prior to the issuance of any building permit.

All non-residential and multi-family(3+) properties within the Village require a roofing permit for complete re-roofing projects.

Parking Lot Resurfacing


The Village does require a permit for resurfacing of parking lots of more than 6 stalls. If you are changing the size of the parking lot then a site plan review will be required.

Accessory Structure


All accessory structures require a building permit. Each lot has a "Maximum Accessory Structure Floor Area" as defined in Figure 5.01(1) in the Zoning Code. The permit fee does not include electrical, plumbing and HVAC trades, which are $30.00/trade.

Electrical Permit


The Village requires permits for rewiring, circuit extensions, addition of circuits and service upgrades/relocates on all non-residential and multi-family (3+) properties

Plumbing Permit


The Village requires permits for installation/replacement of hot water heaters, re-plumbing and relocating/adding fixtures for all non-residential and multi-family (3+) properties.

HVAC Permit


The Village requires permits for the installation/replacement of furnaces, permanently installed heating units, air conditioning units and indoor fireplaces/wood burning stoves for all non-residential and multi-family (3+) properties.

Home Occupation Permit


Home occupation is defined within the Zoning Code as a low-impact economic activity performed within a dwelling unit and/or its attached garage, where the principal use of the lot is the residence of the person conducting the economic activity. Home occupations are a permitted use-by-right within the following zoning districts: AR, RR-5, RR-2, SF-L, SF-S and 2F; and are a conditional use within the following districts: MF, MH and B-1. A conditional use permit is required to be filed in conjunction with the home occupation permit.

Residential Business Permit


A residential business, compared to a “Home Occupation,” is a higher-impact economic activity performed in a dwelling unit, its attached garage, and/or its “Detached Accessory Structure (for Residential Use),” where the principal use of the lot remains the residence of the person primarily conducting the economic activity. Residential businesses are a conditional use in the following zoning districts: AR, RR-5, RR-2, SF-L, SF-S and 2F. A conditional use permit is required to be filled out in conjunction with the residential business permit.
